Module Objective:
1. Give the student the opportunity to collect and analyze data from their job or elsewhere to
investigate something of interest which involves survey data and survey data techniques.
As noted above, the sole purpose of this module is to give the student the opportunity to use Multiple
linear regression (MLR) and survey methods to investigate something that the student finds interesting.
This document outlines the project and how it will be graded.
This project is very similar to the last module except that the student is required to collect some data
and have their own idea of a topic to investigate. This includes the following:
1. Think of a topic or relationship between two quantitative variables that you find interesting and
want to explore.
2. Collect some data (you should have at least 30 observations on each variable).
1
Identify the
relationship to be explored. Which variable is the dependent variable? Which variables is the
independent variables? Explain why and how they are related.
3. Input this data into Excel
4. Analyze the data using MLR and some survey data technique that was discussed.
5. Interpret your results and scrutinize them for reasonableness.
It is suggested that the student merely uses this project as an addition to the student project from the
previous student project module. Therefore, all the student needs to do is to use some method or
survey type data in their analysis in this part. The student cannot turn in an identical submission from
a past module.
