Essentially you need to take your macro trend and communicate how this could be translated from a ‘concept’ into a realised product which a consumer could buy. This is the role of the buyer – to turn trends or concepts into commercial products that align with their target consumers.
You need to consider any challenges that a buying team may face when trying to realise these macro trends and concepts.
AN EXAMPLE:
Sustainability is a very relevant trend and the essential message behind this concept is “BUY LESS’.
This is a great message and certainly essential if we are going to tackle the fast fashion epidemic and address climate change.
However, in a buying office you are producing product to sell. Do you want your consumer to buy less? If they buy less, you will sell less. If you sell less, you will make less profit.
This is a challenge facing many brands.
Your report should address the specific challenges that face your chosen macro trend and be relevant to the fashion buying industry. This is NOT a marketing report and needs to be focused on the specific brief.
Remember that all key points need to be contextualised and include justification from academic sources. We will expect to see citations from a wide range of relevant sources from the library database. You cannot just use citations from articles found on Google.
